The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a petition to suspend construction work on the ambitious Central Vista project at a time when the country is grappling with the deadly second wave of Covid. The opposition and activists have hit out at the government for continuing with work on the project in the middle of the pandemic, which has killed thousands and crippled the healthcare system. The central govt has brought the construction work for the ₹ 20,000 crore project in the heart of the capital under the ambit of "essential services", a move that has angered the opposition.
