India T20I captain Rohit Sharma was pleased with Venkatesh Iyer’s tidy figures in the third and final match of the series against New Zealand.
Venkatesh bowled for the first time in his international career and conceded only 12 runs in 3 overs as Kiwis were bundled out for 111 with 16 balls remaining at The Eden Gardens.
In the post-match presentation, Rohit acknowledged Iyer's bowling in the middle-overs and said that it was Good to see Venkatesh Iyer bowling those overs with the skills he has. Rohit added that Iyer's bowling capabilities were important for the team going forward.

The Indian team management is looking to groom Venkatesh as a fast-bowling all-rounder in the absence of Hardik Pandya. Pandya has been suffering from fitness issues and didn't bowl his full quota of overs in the recently-concluded ICC T20 World Cup.
Iyer's Team India's call up came right after having a bright outing in the 2nd leg of the IPL 2021 in the UAE. The all-rounder from Madhya Pradesh is perhaps one of the most sought after talents in Team India now considering his crisp batting skills and his ability to feature in a team as a floater.
