Ajinkya Rahane's poor form in Test cricket might soon cost him his vice-captain position in the Indian cricket team. According to a report in the Times of India, Rahane could be replaced with Rohit Sharma as the deputy in the longest format of the game.

The selectors are contemplating a move to appoint Rohit Sharma as Virat Kohli's deputy and the change might happen from the tour of South Africa where Team India is scheduled to play 3 Test matches.

Rohit was recently appointed as India's T20 captain as Virat Kohli stepped down from the role after the World T20. Rahane as of now doesn't feature in Team India's limited-overs setup in both formats and a boot from the Test team could end his illustrious career.

After leading the team against New Zealand in the 1st Test in Virat Kohli's absence, Rahane was mysteriously declared unfit with a minor hamstring niggle for the 2nd Test in Mumbai.
