A report by IGN India claims that Battlegrounds Mobile India sends data to servers located in China. The game is a new avatar for PUBG Mobile, which was banned by the government last year due to security concerns.
IGN used a packet sniffing app to gauge servers in China that were being sent data by the game, including servers owned by Tencent, the publishers of PUBG Mobile.
Battlegrounds Mobile is developed and published by South Korean company Krafton, who had said that user data will be stored only on servers in India and Singapore, in accordance with India’s IT Laws.
BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi said that she will ask the IT Ministry to look into the matter.
Battlegrounds Mobile India is currently available in early access beta on Android.
