In a complete shift from his earlier position, Ramdev has now said he will take the Covid vaccine. He had earlier questioned the efficacy of these vaccines in protecting one from Covid-19 as thousands of doctors, he said, had contracted the infection after being vaccinated and died. Ramdev had said, he won't take the vaccine, because he had the dual cover of Ayurveda and Yoga.
Ramdev also seems to be extending an olive branch to the Indian Medical Association too. The yoga guru, who has been at odds with the doctors' body, said, doctors are like God's messengers. He advocated for vaccines and said everyone should get vaccinated, apart from practising yoga and Ayurveda, of course.
Ramdev also praised PM Modi's announcement of a free, centralised Covid-19 vaccination drive which will begin on June 21, which is also the International Yoga Day.
