The Rajya Sabha on Wednesday approved three key labour reform bills that will remove impediments for winding up of companies and allow firing of staff without government permission in firms with up to 300 workers.
The Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020, the Industrial Relations Code 2020 and the Code on Social Security, 2020 were passed in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
Labour Minister Santosh Gangwar said that the increase in the threshold from 100 to 300 would result in job creation.
He said these bills would safeguard the interest of workers and provide universal social security to them by expanding the ambit of EPFO.
