Karnataka BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel on Tuesday stoked a controversy after he called Congress leader Rahul Gandhi a drug addict and peddler.

Kateel, made the remark, after the Congress in the southern state tweeted in Kannada, terming Prime Minister Narendra Modi as illiterate.

Amid an outcry over the tweet targeting the PM, DK Shivakumar had announced that the controversial tweet on PM Modi has been removed by the party's social media team.

After Kateel’s comment, Shivakumar again took to Twitter and said he believes in civility and hopes that the BJP state chief will apologise for abusive and unparliamentary remarks against Rahul Gandhi.
