After playing in a Champions League match against Manchester City, Lionel Messi found himself to be robbed in his hotel room. According to the reports, the thieves broke into his room and robbed him of jewellery and cash. The star footballer was staying in Le Royal Monceau and is still to move into his own residence in Paris.

Reports suggest that jewellery worth $40,000 and $15,000 cash was stolen from the room. Security at the hotel was boosted after Messi’s arrival in August with his family. The police are saying that the incident was caused due to a serious security breach. So far, the evidence gathered suggests the burglary to be a work of an experienced gang.
