Positivity rate of around 42% districts greater than the national average: ICMR

310 out of 734 or about 42% districts in India are reporting a positivity rate more than the national average, the Indian Council of Medical Research said on Tuesday. The national positivity rate is 21%, according to ICMR.

Thirteen states have more than 1 lakh active COVID-19 cases each and 26 states have a positivity rate of over 15%, the government said.

Underlining that despite infection among laboratory staff, the test performance is still being maintained, Dr Bhargav said that India is conducting 18-20 lakh tests every day and added that rapid antigen tests will be allowed at all govt and private testing facilities, no accredition will be required.
