Policeman dies after militants shoot him point blank in Srinagar

A police officer died after militants shot him point blank in the the Khanyar area of Srinagar on Sunday. 

The officer, Arshid Ahmad, was critically injured and was shifted to a hospital for treatment but he succumbed to his injuries. 

CCTV footage of the incident shows the probationary sub-inspector walking when a man comes up from behind and fires multiple shots at him before fleeing.

Other policemen then rush to check on their colleague and take him away. 

Militants in Srinagar have regularly been using small arms to target security forces in hit and run attacks especially since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.
