After about three and a half hours, the crucial all-party meeting between leaders from Jammu & Kashmir and PM Modi ended. PM met 14 political leaders of Jammu & Kashmir, including four former chief ministers of the erstwhile state to discuss the future course of action for the UT.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, leaders said that the Prime Minister patiently heard all the issues raised, and asked all political stakeholders to participate in the delimitation process.
The Prime Minister also reassured leaders that the meeting was the first step in the roadmap towards elections in Kashmir, apart from the Centre's commitment to the restoration of statehood
In a tweet post the meeting, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, the govt is committed to ensure all round development of J&K. He added, the future of Jammu and Kashmir was discussed and the delimitation exercise and peaceful elections are important milestones in restoring statehood as promised in parliament.
