Prime minister Narendra Modi will meet the chief ministers of states and union territories ahead of the nationwide rollout of Covid-19 vaccination. This will be the PM's first interaction with the CMs since the govt's approval to two Covid vaccines.
The Centre has decided to start the world's largest vaccination drive from January 16. The government has said that two crore healthcare workers and about one crore frontline workers, engaged in the fight against the pandemic, will be the first to be inoculated.
Second in line will be those above 50 years of age and the under-50 population groups with co-morbidities, together numbering around 27 crore.
