Meena Kumari, a member of Uttar Pradesh's women's commission has given a unique solution for stopping rapes in the country - take away girls' mobile phones. Kumari said that girls shouldn't be given mobile phones because they speak to boys for hours and then run away. She added that family members are not aware of these things as the phones never get checked.

The thought of mobiles being taken away from their children would make a lot of mothers happy in general but Meena Kumari's statement will perhaps antagonise them. The UP women's panel member also indirectly blamed mothers for rapes and said that if girls are careless then their mothers are responsible.
