Pharma giant Pfizer is set to provide India with 5 crore vaccine doses this year itself but wants the indemnity concern to be resolved.
PTI reports that as per sources Pfizer wants significant regulatory relaxations including indemnification which absolves the company of any legal liability incase of a adverse after effect.
In a high-level meeting attended by members Ministry of External Affairs, NITI Aayog, Department of Biotechnology, Law Ministry and Health Ministry the options of procuring more vaccines was discussed.
Sources have told PTI that Moderna has conveyed to Indian authorities that it does not have surplus vaccines to share in 2021 and there are limited prospects of Johnson & Johnson exporting its jabs from the US to other countries in the near future.
