Over 3.29 crore unused vaccine doses still available with states, says Govt

States, union territories and private hospitals have more than 3.29 crore unused Covid-19 vaccine doses still available with them, the Union Health Ministry said on Sunday.

The ministry further said that over 45.37 crore vaccine doses have been provided to the states and UTs so far and over 11.79 cr  more doses are in the pipeline

Of this, the total consumption which also included wasted doses is over 42.08 crore, the ministry said.

The new phase of universalization of the Covid-19 vaccination drive in the country began on 21st June 2021. In the new phase of the universalisation of the vaccination drive, the Union government will procure and supply (free of cost) 75 per cent of the vaccines being produced by the manufacturers in the country to the states and UTs.
