He started watching YouTube videos as a stress-buster. Now he earns lakhs making them.
The story of Isak Munda, a tribal man from Odisha's Sambhalpur, will warm you heart. A daily wage labourer, Munda reportedly started making YouTube videos during the Covid lockdown last year when work dried up. He reportedly took a loan of Rs 3,000 to buy a smartphone to make his first video. Munda made a video of him eating rice, sambar and gree chillies, which raked in half a million views.
And then there was no looking back. Munda makes video about life of the poor in his village. Most of his videos show off local flavours and regional cuisine and he now has over 7 lakh subscribers on YouTube.
In August 2020, he earned Rs 5 lakh from YouTube," an elated Mr Munda told Odisha TV. He says he is happy to be no longer seeking daily-wage work as a labourer.
