Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar has justified the police action against protesting farmers near Karnal. The chief minister said that obstructing official work is against democracy and if the farmers wanted to protest, they should have done it peacefully.

"If they jam highways & throw stones at police, then police will also take steps to maintain law&order," Khattar added.

He however assured that his govt will look into Saturday's incident and take necessary action.

Around 10 people were injured on Saturday as police lathicharged a group of farmers heading towards Karnal to protest against a BJP meeting. Following the police action, farmers blocked roads across the state in protest.
