Indian fans were backing Scotland to pull off an upset against New Zealand but despite a good fight, Scotland went down by 16 runs in the T20 World Cup 2021.
batting first, Martin Guptill powered The Blackcaps to 172/5 with a 56-ball-93. His innings included 7 sixes. Scotland's chase began on a positive note but they were reduced to 106/5. Michael Leask then scored a brisk 42 not out off just 20 balls but it wasn't enough to pull off an upset win and could manage 156/5.
New Zealand now has 4 points from 3 games and need to beat Afghanistan and Namibia in their last two group matches to guarantee a place in the semi-finals.
