A number of notable Tennis players have bowed out of Tokyo 2020 for different reasons. The tight schedule for the ATP and WTA, injuries incurred during tournaments and the strict restrictions at the Tokyo 2020 have been some of the major reasons for the withdrawals. The list includes most of the top tennis stars. However, there are more pullouts from among the male players than women. While 11 of the top 20 men will be skipping the Summer Games, only 5 amongst the top 20 women players will not be participating in the event.
From among the men, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Stan Wawrinka, Dominic Thiem, Denis Shapovalov, Nick Kyrgios will not be seen in Tokyo; Simona Halep, Bianca Andreescu, Coco Gauff, Sofia Kenin, Victoria Azarenka will also not feature in this year's Olympic edition.
Serena Williams will also not play in Tokyo 2020. However, the American player did not withdraw, but she could not qualify for Tokyo.
