Amid a 'grave oxygen crisis in Delhi' for the past some days, Health Minister Satyendra Jain has said that the situation is not comfortable.
When asked about the availability of oxygen in Delhi hospitals, Jain said the situation is different in different hospitals. "6 hours in some, 8 in others, 10 in some others," he mentioned. However, the Centre is making allocations to all states and Delhi's quota has been increased, the minister said.
As per the Delhi govt's estimate, the national capital needs 700 tons/day. The Centre had fixed it to 378 tons earlier and increased it to 480 tons yesterday.
Delhi's health minister also added that there is a crisis of ICU beds and that the capital has made a request to the Centre and expect 700-800 ICU beds soon. Central government-run hospitals have provided around 2000 beds to the Delhi government out of 7,000 demanded, Jain said.
