The AYUSH ministry has dismissed claims that prolonged consumption of 'kadha', recommended as a preventive health measure for boosting immunity amid the Covid-19 pandemic, damages the liver,
AYUSH Ministry secretary said it is a "wrong notion" as ingredients used for preparing 'kadha,' like cinnamon, basil and black pepper, are used in cooking at home. Adding that these foods have a positive effect on the respiratory system.
As part of the ministry's health guidelines released in March, one of the recommendations was to drink herbal tea or 'kadha' made from basil, cinnamon, black pepper, dry ginger, and raisins once or twice a day.
