The Supreme Court on Wednesday heard petition filed by Facebook India's VP and MD, Ajit Mohan, against the notice issued by Delhi Legislative Assembly for deposing before it. The court has given one week time to the respondent to file counter affidavit. The Delhi assembly's peace committee looking into Facebook's alleged role during the February riots in the national capital, deferred its meeting after the apex court directed it to not take any coercive step against Facebook and its VP & MD Ajit Mohan, till October 15, when it will take up the matter for further hearing. Senior lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi representing Delhi Assembly Committee has however argued ‘no coercive step was intended by Delhi Assembly against Facebook’.
