The new Saudi ownership of Newcastle United has appointed Eddie Howe as its new manager on Monday. He is tasked with trying to keep the Premier League club Newcastle out of the relegation zone.

43-year-old Howe replaced the fired Steve Bruce after Newcastle was rejected by former Arsenal manager Unai Emery, who opted last week to stay in charge at Villarreal. Howe has been out of management since leaving Bournemouth after being relegated in 2020, having guided the team into the top division for the first time and staying 5 years.

Earlier last month, Newcastle was bought for £300 million by a consortium led by the Saudi Arabian government's sovereign wealth fund which has made it the richest club in Premier League.
