The Finance Ministry on Monday named 3 new members of the rate-setting Monetary Policy Committee of the Reserve Bank of India. Economists Ashima Goyal, Jayanth R Varma, and Shashank Bhide who have been appointed for a 4-year term will replace the 3 previous external MPC candidates, whose term expired in August. Due to the delay in the appointment, RBI's bi-monthly committee meeting did not take place last week. The RBI is yet to announce the dates of the rescheduled meeting.
