15 people have died as floods continued to wreak havoc in parts of Madhya Pradesh. Over 1,200 villages in Shivpuri, Sheopur, Datia, Gwalior, Guna, Bhind and Morena have been submerged and thousands have been dislocated.

Teams of Army, Air Force, NDRF and SDRF are conducting relief and rescue operations.

Five bridges in Datia and Seoni districts of the state have collapsed in the last 2 days due torrential rain and flooding.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan who conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas on Wednesday said that the situation is grim and that Madhya Pradesh has never seen such devastation in 70 years.

According to the Met Dept, the rains are not showing any signs of letting up. An 'orange' alert forecasting 'heavy to very heavy' rainfall in six districts of Madhya Pradesh and a 'yellow alert' forecasting 'heavy' rainfall in 17 other districts has been issued by the weather department.
