Despite drilling into the Mars surface, NASA's Perseverance rover failed to collect rock samples for analysis. While it successfully managed to drill a hole, the first step of the 11-day long mission, the Mars rover could not collect any samples and seal them in the tube in its first attempt.
NASA published images on its Twitter page of the hole drilled on the Mars surface. It's the first time that a hole has been dug on the Red Planet by a robot

The rock samples collected from the planet will be used to study signs of ancient microbial life on the planet and understanding Martian geology.
