A 30-year-old woman, who was brutally raped and tortured with an iron rod in Mumbai, has died in hospital.
The horrific incident, which bears brutal similarities to the Delhi's 2012 Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case, has shocked the nation. The perpetrator had inserted an iron rod in her genitalia.
The incident took place in Mumbai's Saki Naka and the police have arrested one man while they suspect more people could have been involved in ghastly act.

According to Mumbai Police, the woman was found in critical condition at 3.30 am on Friday after they received a call.
On reaching the spot, police found the woman lying injured inside a parked tempo. Outside the vehicle on the road was a man, also injured.
The Women's Danger Index, which calculates the safety that women perceive based on 8 factors including non-partner sexual violence and street safety for women has continuously raised concerns about the safety of women in India.
According to that index, India has repeatedly ranked among the top 10 least safe countries for women in the world.
