An already bad season for the Chennai Super Kings turned worse on Friday as Mumbai Indians thrashed them by 10 wickets - CSK's worst loss in terms of wickets. It was a horror start for Chennai as Boult and Bumrah rocked their top-order, which fell like a pack of cards. Chennai lost 4 wickets with just 3 runs on the board, which is now the second-lowest score for which a team lost as many wickets in IPL history. Jadeja too fell early as CSK lost half their side for just 21 runs. It was in fact, the first time that they lost 5 wickets within the powerplay overs. As a result, MS Dhoni had to walk out inside the first 2 overs for the first time in an IPL game. The stage was set for MSD but he was too out for just 16. Sam Curran fought hard and helped his side reach 114/9 with a gritty 52. It proved to be a cakewalk for Mumbai as Ishan Kishan blasted an unbeaten 37-ball-68 to take his side over the finish line in just the 13th over. With 8 losses in 11 games, the season is all but over for Chennai.
