BJP leader and Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, who is a 'Z' category protectee in the Central govt list, will also get Z category CRPF cover in poll-bound West Bengal.
Nityanand Rai is a central observer for BJP in Bengal. The order is said to have come late on Wednesday evening, with some reports saying Rai is also entitled to a bullet-proof vehicle. Rai will be given CRPF protection only in West Bengal, while in other states he will be given state protection.
Last month, former TMC MLA Rajib Banerjee, who joined the BJP in January, was provided with Z category security in West Bengal by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
