It was fashion's biggest night in New York, and after a year-long delay due to the coronavirus pandemic, Hollywood's biggest stars stepped out in their finest at the 2021 Met Gala on Monday.
This year's theme was a salute to the evolution of American fashion and a celebration for the role of American labels in championing sustainability, diversity and inclusion, which leaves plenty of wiggle room for interpretation.

Co-chair for the Met Gala 2021, singer Billie Eilish made quite the entrance with a marching band and gymnast and early walkers in sultry, sparkly looks. Eilish wore a a dramatic and glamorous nude tulle dress from Oscar de la Renta. The gown had a 15-foot train that trailed across the white carpet.
Actor Timothee Chalamet kept it simple in a white Haider Ackermann suit. The 25-year-old star of the upcoming sci-fi epic "Dune" is a co-chair of this year's event.
Kim Kardashian turned out in head-to-toe covered in black. Her body and face were covered by Balenciaga with only her hair peaking out of the face covering. The outfit was comprised of black pants, black boots, and a top with a long black train.
Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Rita Ora and Lupita Nyong'o all opted for more traditional glamour.
After their splash at the Venice Film Festival, Bennifer also made a public appearance at the Met Gala, with all ther PDA for the shutterbugs. Jennifer Lopez, wore a plunging beaded brown Ralph Lauren gown, as she walked the carpet solo - in a dress cut to the hip, daringly slit to the navel, paired with a wide brim hat and feather cape. But Bennifer did share an intimate moment inside the event, as the two were spotted kissing with their masks on.
Popstar Rihanna showed up in a huge black Balenciaga look and hat accompanied by A$ap Rocky in a multicolored quilted number. In true Bad Girl Riri style, she wore over 267 carats of Bulgari diamonds, including two choker necklaces.
After a big night at the MTV VMAs, Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin made their debut as a couple at the Met Gala. Haley Baldwin sported a plunging, strapless black dress, while Bieber was in a black suit with a white shirt.
Singer Shawn Mendez and Camila Cabello made their Met Gala debut on Monday night. Shawn Mendez looked every bit the eyecandy he is, in a shirtless in a leather blazer and pants, while Camila wore a sparkly purple crop top and wrap skirt.
But rapper Lil Nas X was the highlight of the night. He made a glimmering, golden debut at the Met Gala, arrived in a dramatic gold cape with a train. He then revealed a golden suit of armor underneath and for his third fashion act, he revealed a gold bodysuit_ all custom-designed by Versace.
Megan Fox channeled some vintage pinup vibes, wearing a stunning red lace-up dress with a high leg slit.
It was a big night for activism at the Met Gala as well.
29-year-old model Cara Delevingne walked the red carpet wearing a white bulletproof vest emblazoned with the phrase “Peg the Patriarchy,” which was designed by Dior. The Internet gave it a loud cheer, as she championed women empowerment, and gender equality.
Cara wasn't the only one. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made quite a statement with her look, as she wore a white gown with the words "Tax the Rich" written in scarlet.
