‘Mera Houchongba’ festival celebrated in Manipur

The grand Mera Houchongba festival was celebrated at the Manipur Royal Palace in Imphal on Saturday.

The festival is observed and is celebrated in the month of Mera, which falls either in September or October.

The festival upholds oneness and brotherhood among different ethnic communities. Traditional dance performances and an exchange of gifts mark the celebrations.

This year the festival was restricted to sacred rituals only owing to the pandemic.
