Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on his Facebook profile that WhatsApp is adding new functionality to its disappearing messages feature.
In a post, Zuckerberg said that the Meta-owned app will now let users turn on disappearing messages automatically for all new one-on-one chats. This will ensure that all future messages will automatically be deleted from the chat. Any existing chats will not be affected.
The disappearing messages feature was launched earlier, but only allowed users to set messages to disappear after seven days. Now, Zuckerberg says that users can choose to have messages automatically deleted after 24 hours, or 90 days.

If a user chooses to have disappearing messages turned on by default, a notice will appear in a new chat saying that the feature is on. Users can also turn off the feature for individual chats.
The new setting does not affect group chats by default, but users will get the option to enable it when creating new groups.
WhatsApp’s new features are available on all platforms.
