Manchester City edged past Tottenham with a solitary goal to win the final of the League Cup on Sunday night. The lone goal came from Aymeric Laporte in the 82nd min of play as the Citizens won their maiden title of 2021. This is the 4th straight League Cup trophy for Manchester City as they are now tied with Liverpool for 8 titles each. The loss continues Spurs' longest trophy drought since 1951 with their last piece of silverware coming in 2008. The treble dream for City remains alive as they are almost sure to win the Premier League title and also one of the strongest contenders in the Champions League.
