The battle for Bengal heats up as the state inches closer to the assembly elections. Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday claimed while addressing a rally in Bankura that if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power in the state, it would be the end of people’s rights.

Mamata alleged the Union ministers had not visited the state during the Covid crisis or when cyclone Amphan devastated the state. She accused them of ‘shamelessly’ ignoring their duties at the Centre in order to campaign in Bengal.

Banerjee reiterated she will not let ‘outside goons’ overtake elections in the state.
