Incumbent West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has urged people to maintain peace and asked the police to maintain law and order amid reports of post-poll violence in the state.

She also denied allegations of TMC's role in the violence, made by the BJP in her first press conference post her sweeping victory in the Bengal assembly elections.

Mamata, who is set to become CM for the third time declared that the BJP is "not shahenshah" and the people have put them in their place. She further added that people have stopped the ruination... the spine is straight.

Mamata also went on to hint at foul play by the Election Commission in the counting of votes for the Nandigram assembly constituency and said she wants forensic tests done on the EVMs.
