Global Citizen, the organisation behind the recently announced reality show 'The Activist', has now offered an apology after massive furore over the show's format online.

Social media users hit back after the showrunners announced the format, where activists would be pitted against each other, and be judged for whose was a more charitable cause.

The makers of the reality show, which had Priyanka Chopra, Usher and Julianne Hough as hosts, have now changed the format to a documentary special instead of a 5-episode competition series.

In a statement, Global Citizen admitted that it had got the format 'wrong', and apologised to not only the activists who were meant to participate, but also the hosts, including Priyanka Chopra, Usher and Julianne Hough, who were also trolled for associating themselves with the show.
