ARTH | 1982
Mahesh Bhatt made 'Arth' at a time when the mainstream discourse about extra-marital affairs was considered taboo. In this 1982 film, Mahesh Bhatt explored themes of infidelity, failed marriages through a poignant film. SAARANSH | 1984
Considered to be Anupam Kher’s career-best performance, 'Saaransh' is the story of an elderly couple dealing with their grief after their son’s sudden demise. ZAKHM | 1998
Zakhm was a semi-autobiographical film by Mahesh Bhatt, where he captured social turmoil due to religion, adding a bit of social commentary to it. The film told the story of how certain existent forces divide people on the basis of religion. Ajay Devgn's stupendous acting in the film bagged him the National Award.
