Maharashtra traders are up in arms against Covid restrictions. The Federations of Associations of Maharashtra, an umbrella body of more than 750 traders associations, with around 20,00,000 small businesses as members, has given Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray a 24-hour ultimatum to open up non-essential shops in the state. Maharashtra has shut all all non-essential shops, markets, and malls in the wake of a surge in Covid cases. The traders' body has said that new curbs will kill businesses that have kust started to come out of the previous lockdown shock. Traders have threatened protest on Thursday.
