Maharashtra Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis has alleged the state government was harassing a supplier of Remdesivir from Daman because BJP leaders had approached him for supply of the antiviral medication to the state.
Fadnavis said that BJP had requested Bruck Pharma to give them Remdesivir in view of the shortage of the drug in Maharashtra and they had also got FDA's approval after speaking to Union Minister Mansukh Mandivya. The supplier was however arrested by the police on Saturday night, he added.
The police have said that it wasn't an arrest, the supplier was only brought in for questioning after they received inputs that some Remdesivir exporters have 60,000 vials of the drug and they only acted into good faith to verify the input considering there is a lot of black marketing due to the shortage of the medicine. He was allowed to go after he produced required documents, they added.
