Madras HC bans medical attempts to cure sexual orientation, suggest measures to sensitise society

Madras High Court has banned medical attempts to cure sexual orientation. The Court has also ordered strict action against those found to be indulging in attempts to cure/change sexual orientation.

The judgment was rendered on a plea by a lesbian couple seeking protection from their relatives.

Besides it has suggested host of other measures to sensitise the society and various branches of the State including Police and judiciary to remove prejudices against LGBTQIA+ community

The Court also issued interim directions to safeguard and protect the rights of the people in the LGBTQIA+ community.
