Lord Ganesh's idol dumped in pond: 7 civic workers in Indore suspended

The Indore Municipal Corporation on Monday terminated services of seven temporary workers after a video clip showed them dumping idols of Lord Ganesh in a pond that caused outrage.

The workers were tasked to collect the idols from various centres after the end of ten-day Ganesh Chaturthi festival and immerse them in designated water bodies.

Indore municipal commissioner Pratibha Pal terminated the services of the civic workers following the incident which occurred at the Jawahar Tekri pond.

Several social media users expressed their anger and hurt after the video went viral.
