Summers are here and some parts of India are burning as the mercury level is skyrocketing. Amidst this people are looking forward to activities and travel destinations they can visit to beat the heat.

India has a vast range of hill stations which can provide solace to travellers. When it comes to snow or snowfall, it’s only winters that come to our mind but what if we tell you that there are various hill stations where you can play with snow even during the summer months.   

Top 5 places to visit for snow in June

Rohtang Pass, Manali – One of the most popular holiday destinations in Northern India, Rohtang Pass can be visited in summers to enjoy snow and fun activities like sledding and paragliding. It takes around 2 hours to reach Rohtang from Manali.  

Khardungla and Changla Pass, Ladakh - Leh in Ladakh is almost everyone’s favourite destination these days and Instagram is full of pictures and videos from there. Although you won’t find snow in Leh during summers, if you go above Leh to Khardungla pass and Changla Pass, you will surely get snow and in extreme cases you might also experience snow fall. But it is always better to consult the locals before visiting the places to make sure that the weather is fine and is safe for travellers to visit. 

Yumthang Valley, Sikkim - Located about 142 kms away from Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, Yumthang valley is also popular as the Flower Valley as you can see a bed of snow filled with small flowers and the view is just out of this world. You can visit the Tsongmo Lake, also known as Changu Lake which falls on the way to Yumthang and is one of the most beautiful places in the North eastern part of India. 

Gulmarg, Kashmir – When it comes to snow, how can we forget Kashmir, right? If you can’t handle minus temperature, then summers are the best time to visit Kashmir. The weather is pleasant at this time with a beautiful variety of roses across the beautiful city of Sri Nagar. And for snow you must visit the top most level of Gulmarg by gondola or cable car. Apart from Gulmarg, a little bit of snow can also be experienced in some parts of Pahalgam and Sonmarg. 

Munsiyari, Uttarakhand - Far away from the madding crowd, this small village in the state of Uttarakhand is located at 7,200 ft, in the district of Pithoragarh and has snow even during the summer. You can go trekking to discover some amazing waterfalls and lakes surrounding the place.
