For example- if you want to travel from Dehradun to Delhi but the ticket prices are high, then the traveller can search for a different destination such as Mumbai and just have to see that the flight has Delhi as a layover.
After reaching Delhi, the layover point, the traveller can leave the airport without taking the flight to the third destination.
