The month of June is celebrated as Pride Month to raise awareness and spread knowledge about the LGBTQ community.

However, there is still a lack of clarity and knowledge about terms like 'Deadnaming' among people. Let us tell you what it is.

What is deadnaming?

Deadnaming is the act of referring to a transgender person by their incorrect name or the name which they no longer use. Generally, this name is given at their birth and they change it later according to their identity.

How to avoid deadnaming a person?

To avoid deadnaming someone, you need to know their correct name and commit to using it. When you know someone's correct name, use it even when you're referring to their past incidents.
