Krishna Janmashtami 2022 Date & Puja Timings : Celebrated all across India, Krishna Janmashtami commemorates the birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu. It is observed on the eighth day of Krishna Paksha and this year, it will be celebrated on 18th and 19th August.
Every year, Janmashtami is celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm. It is usually a two-day affair that begins with the Krishna Janmashtami Puja on one evening followed by Dahi Handi the next day.
To mark the celebrations, devotees decorate their homes and temples with flowers, observe a fast, offer prayers, sing devotional songs and participate in the Dahi Handi ceremony. Earthern pots with butter and milk are hung on the streets with people forming human pyramids to reach the 'dahi handi' and break it.
