Urine-based pregnancy tests are a thing of the past, now pregnancy can be tested from just saliva. World's first saliva-based pregnancy test has been launched in the UK. The product is known as Salilistic and it is the first one that can detect pregnancy with a spit test.

This product has been developed by a Jerusalem-based start-up, Salignostics. The company said that they used the same technology that is used to make Covid testing kits.

The test, which is based on technology that detects hCG, a hormone specific to pregnancy, is believed to be 97 percent accurate and more convenient to use.

How does this test work?

To take this test, the person needs to place a foam-tipped stick from the kit in the mouth for a few moments, like we keep the thermometer.

This will then collect the sample of saliva and the result can be easily read within 5 to 15 minutes.

This test can detect if you are pregnant as early as a day after you've missed your period.
