A rare case of a 75-year-old woman Jo Cameron has been discovered by scientists at University College London (UCL) who feels almost no pain.
Researchers have identified this genetic mutation that enables a person to experience no pain throughout their life and never feel anxious or scared. This is a rare gene called FAAH-OUT that works on the molecular level, enabling some people to not feel any pain.
According to scientists, the same biological mechanisms make wounds and injuries heal fast. Published in the journal Brain, these findings will enable scientists to work on medicines and drugs to help patients with chronic diseases feel less pain and will also help in healing, depression.
