Boiling milk before using it is a common practice in every Indian household. It's definitely important to boil raw milk in order to get rid of harmful bacteria but is it necessary to boil pasteurised milk as well? Watch to find out!
According to dairy technologist, Sanjeev Tomer, raw milk needs boiling to get rid of bacteria as it can weaken the immune system and affect health. On the other hand, packaged milk goes through different levels of processing as well as pasteurisation which removes impurities and bacteria, making it fit for drinking without being boiled.
He also stated that boiling pasteurised milk repeatedly leads to the denaturation of essential nutrients, which can further lead to weaker bones.
As per the expert, warming up pasteurised milk for 4-5 minutes before consuming it is a healthy practice. It also ensures that the essential nutrients in milk remain intact. However, when it comes to raw milk, one should boil it properly and then store it in the refrigerator to preserve it.
