Hostile parenting can cause lasting mental health problems in children: Study

As per a new study, shouting at kids or leaving them alone when they misbehave can affect their mental health. 

Published in the journal Epidemiology and Psychiatric Sciences, the study was conducted on 7,500 children. 

Researchers noted that children exposed to 'hostile' parenting at age of 3 were 1.5 times more likely than their peers to have mental health symptoms which qualified as 'high risk' by age nine.

It was also revealed that parenting style is not completely responsible,but factors like gender, physical health and socio-economic status can affect the mental health of children.
