Gel nails are quite common these days among beauty enthusiasts. However, a study by researchers at the University of California, San Diego, had claimed that UV lamps used to dry gel nails may lead to cancer-causing mutations in human cells.

And, now gel nails themselves are hitting headlines. Dermatologists have warned that there is a sudden surge in allergic reactions caused by gel nails. There are reports of people's nails falling off, skin rashes, and in rare cases breathing troubles.

Experts suggest that people need to take extra protective measures when they get gel nails done.
